SPOTTED HILLSTREAM LOACH

The Spotted Hillstream Loach (Sewellia lineolata or closely related Gastromyzon species) is a fascinating and uniquely shaped freshwater fish often called a “freshwater stingray” because of its flat, disc-like body and wide pectoral fins. Native to the fast-flowing, oxygen-rich streams of Southeast Asia, this species is specially adapted to cling to rocks and graze on algae in strong currents. Temperament and tankmates: Extremely peaceful and shy, they do best in groups of three or more and coexist well with other calm, cool-water species.
