Tinfoil Barb (Barbonymus schwanenfeldii)

The Tinfoil Barb is a large, fast-moving freshwater fish known for its bright silver body and shimmering scales that reflect light beautifully in the aquarium. As they grow, they develop striking red or orange accents on their fins, making them a true centerpiece fish for very large tanks.

These fish are active swimmers and do best in groups, where they constantly cruise the tank together. Because of their size and energy, they are best suited for experienced aquarists with plenty of space.

Why people love Tinfoil Barbs:
• Large, eye-catching silver fish with reflective scales
• Red or orange accents develop on fins as they mature
• Peaceful in groups but very active swimmers
• Great centerpiece fish for large aquariums
• Hardy and adaptable when properly housed
• Impressive schooling behavior in big tanks

Tinfoil Barbs should always be kept in groups, as they are highly social fish. A proper school helps reduce stress and encourages natural behavior. Because of their size and speed, they should only be housed with other large, robust fish that can handle their active nature.

They thrive in spacious aquariums with strong filtration, open swimming areas, and some sturdy plants or decorations. Be aware that they may nibble or uproot delicate plants due to their size and activity level.

Feed a varied diet including high-quality pellets, flakes, vegetables like zucchini and spinach, and occasional frozen or live foods such as bloodworms and brine shrimp. A balanced diet helps maintain their health and vibrant coloration.
